Midsommar Review

Midsommar has gotten a lot of attention in the genre this year, and for good reason. It’s well-acted, kind of funny, and very unusual in that the whole movie takes place in glaring daylight, which I always find makes horror creepier. The movie is actually very visually appealing, apparently filmed atop some rolling landscape in Hungary. It is violent, so if you’re not into that, and I guess it was somewhat predictable at times, though that fact didn’t really detract from the story.

I don’t know if it’s a great movie (it might be), but I never got bored with it or found my mind wandering, which I often do with movies that are 2 hours+. And, maybe most telling, I’m still thinking about it days later.
